Order of work

Repairs first, then wash and treat growth, then full dry time, then resand, then seal. Sealing before repairs means paying to seal a surface you are about to open back up.

Questions worth asking any contractor

• How long will you let the pavers dry before sealing?
• Is the sealer joint-stabilizing, and what finish level will it leave?
• For a pool deck, how are you handling slip resistance?
• Is the estimate in writing after an on-site look?
• Are you insured, and are you local?

Wash about $0.25 per square foot, resand about $0.75, seal about $1.80, $200 job minimum. Repairs are quoted separately: $15 per square foot for sunken pavers (15 sq ft and $250 minimums) and $20 per square foot for root removal repair ($350 minimum), both subject to field approval.
